The Upper Midwest Trail Runners Club annual banquet was a smashing success! It was in beautiful Hastings at Schaar's Bluff gathering center and trailhead. What a view!! I got to meet even more folks I only knew online or from race results. Such a pleasure being able to hang out with a bunch of friendly runners and ultra runners.
And the cakes! Oh, so many cakes to choose from!
It was so much fun being able to cap off the year with some fond memories of the season. It was also a pleasant surprise to bring home a first place age-group trophy for the Minnesota Trail Running Series. Wynn made some spectacular awards for the Larry Pederson Award and the Trail People of the Year Awards. You've got to see 'em to believe 'em! Mr. Davis is a man of many talents!
If you haven't signed up for the UMTR or the series, you're missing out on some good times!
Hopefully I can get into some semblance of good shape before the Afton Fat Ass run in a few weeks...Good times! Thanks again to everyone who made the UMTR a thriving reality! Looking forward to next year!

Glad you had fun. It is great that there is such a strong group of people pushing trail running in the upper midwest. Some people seem to think that there is only trail running out west ? What's up with the Fat Ass at Afton ?
Tell me more about this Fat Ass run. I've had vague intentions of running the Memphis half that Saturday following Turkey day, but I'm having trouble getting motivated to train for that kind of mileage on pavement, right now.
Are you on vacation?? Hopefully somewhere nice and sunny :)
