I wrote a post on the plane that I have not had the chance to upload until this morning. The right combination of fate, timing and free wifi have enabled this post. It's been a little busy on the road...
I am in an airplane about 30,000 feet above somewhere in the western Untied States, flying from Los Angeles to Dallas. I have been in LA since last Friday.
The week flew by pretty quickly, but the travel is going well and work is also going well. I am getting to the point where I am kind of used to the schedule and got in several quality workouts this week.
On Saturday, I made it to the gym for about five miles of a ‘hill’ workout. Nothing too major, just a good run. On Sunday I got in another five miles, then wound up taking the next two days off.
I figured since I was in LA that I drop fellow blogger Barefoot Ted a line to ask him if he could give me the beta on some LA trail running. I called him on Sunday and he gave me the lowdown on the area then gave me a standing invite to check out his neck of the woods the next time I was in town. His setup where he lives sounds like an ideal training ground for honing your ultra running skills from the ground up.
He has some very interesting ideas and news on the horizon, so stay tuned to his blog!
I gotta say, Ted is a true original! I am looking forward to getting out to visit him this summer.
Unfortunately, my team and I burned up all our daylight at work, so I didn’t get to climb Mount Hollywood like I wanted to. I decided to go through the grinder just like I was climbing a mountain anyways.
Wednesday I got in my classic threshold workout, consisting of 15 minutes of increasing intensity, then breaking the last thirty minutes into an upper body workout while I was on the treadmill with dumbells. That will get the heart rate up!
